585 delamination

I have a furuno 585 and the outside edge of the screen looks to be starting to delaminate... is there a fix for this delamination issue or a replacement for this problem??

If delaminated it wouldn't be cost of effective to fix due to the cost of the needed LCD replacement panel. It could be replaced with a newer unit or used as long as it is functional. The short answer and can be fixed but at a cost near that of a new unit that comes with a new warranty and advanced features.

Gotcha kinda what I figured... hard to believe 4 yr old unit that is protected from outside elements would deteriorate after 4yrs

Unbonded units are subject to condensation and bonded units are subject to disbonding. Use of the suncover helps a lot but sometimes it just happens. Furuno USA sold the last FCV585 back in March 2008. I can't account for the 8 years before you purchased yours in 2016 but you might talk to the seller to see if they are willing to cut you a special price on the newer FCV588.
