1st Watch Radar dome as base for Nav Light

As I'm about to install 1st Watch on my Coast Guard Auxiliary patrol boat, I intend to situate this:

LED light atop the radome; because it's my best available compromise. Without encouragement, I won't open the unit to find 12 VDC and catch drillings for screws. Instead I'll glue the 12 VDC feed up the external side of the dome and CAREFULLY use bedded self tapping screws to secure the nav lamp.

I'd like some supportive advice but I anticipate warnings about warranty violations, etc.
????????

Periodically from time to time this question arises. It is never recommended to install a light on top of a RADOME for any reason. Either by gluing one on or by screwing one on top of the case. The RADOME sensor is a highly sensitive sensor and likely any installation of this type can compromise the radar entirely.

It's always recommended to install a light away from the radar, not facing the radar, and out of the direct beam width of the radar.

Hope this helps, :sail

I have saw some Navy installs where they had a mounting made that provides a shelf above the radar to allow something like the light to mount without mounting directly to the dome. That worked well for them. I agree with Magnetron, you don't want to glue/screw or place anything directly onto the dome itself.
