As the antenna rotates make a grinding sound for about 1/2 or less of one full rotation. Just noticed this after first boot up for the 2024 season. I suppose i might be able to open it up, however its in very constricted space on the tuna tower. Before I go crazy I was hoping for some guidance or known issue that could make my job a bit easier.

For a 1941 radar, it seems it might have been it or something has damaged the large nylon gear. It would need to be inspected. I would also inspect the antenna array (stick) for any cracks or damage. I have seen these be tied down and if attempting to rotate the nylon gear be damaged without it hitting something. When set to rotate the antenna should be non-restricted. Nyon gear is normally not too expensive (~$100) if that is what is damaged. Someone will need to open it up and give it a good inspection.
Both the older 1941 and 1944 are analog radars and basically the same type of design. I agree with @Johnny Electron it would need to be inspected inside the gearbox to see what is grinding.
