1832 with ARP option board

Greetings,
I will be installing the arp10 board in this radar for a customer.
My question has to do with the HDG port on the display unit.
I have nmea 0183 hdg string available from a satellite compass and want to use this for the arp. According to different people, arp will not function with hdg nmea string on this port, it needs to be ad10 format.....can someone please tell me if this is correct.
I need clarity on this, as adding a heading sensor will change the cost of the install quite a bit.
Thanks for any help

Thanks

Another question concerning this radar and TTM messages. The arp works well on the radar and the tracked targets display fine on the radar itself. There is a problem with targets that are remotely displayed on a plotter via the TTM string .....the targets do not show up in the correct place on the plotter ...the track does not draw correctly on the plotter. What could cause this? the plotter only plots the TTM message. Why would the track show almost perpendicular to my vessel when the tracked target was running parallel to my boat?

It sounds like your unit isn't setup properly. First, you must ensure that when in heads up mode that the radar image is aligned to the bow of the boat. Next when you feed AD10 data (required for aprp), you need to ensure it is TRUE. If you feed AD10 from a magnetic compass you will need to ensure the compass is setup to provide TRUE. The ARPA board in the 1832 expect the AD10 heading in TRUE (which AD10/GYRO data should be) and if you send MAGNETIC then everything will be off by the magnetic deviation. The 1832 installation setup should also have the heading sensor set as GYRO. If this is all done; then your TTM data should be correct if you are providing the unit with correct GPS and HEADING.
