dears,
seeking help to purchase a suitable fishfinder and transducer for me fishing i have just bought my first boat its a sea hunt 186 triton the boat is now in usa and will be shipped overseas.
i got really confused over the internet some people saying go with fcv-588 and 1kw TM260 transom that is what you seeking and im reading about the chrip transducer and saw that its better then the traditional as some sites says im talking about the TM265LH chrip i had someone to call furuno usa and they said the same go with the 588 and 1kw traditional transducer .

i add some screen shots for what is the area i will be fishing looks like we do all kind of fishing in the redsea jigging in 30m to 220m depth -bottom fishing 15m to 250m depth- popping and casting beside the reefs - trolling and deep fishing for sword fish and big squid you can say we fish from 15m to 500m .

do i need chrip transducer ?
do i need 2 transducer ?
is the 1kw traditional is what i really need and save the money ?

best regards,
sam

sam_ghaz,

The question you really need to answer is budget. If want to a Conventional 50/200 kHz sounder...? Then go with the FCV588 with a 525TID-TMD 1kW Transom Transducer w/Temp.

If you want to go with CHIRP, it is more expensive route to go. Then I would then consider the FCV295 with a TM275LHW Transom Mount CHIRP Transducer w/Temp, Low Frequency: 42-65 kHz, High Frequency: 150-250 kHz.

Thank you very much for your reply, may I ask some questions
Is it worse the money to go with Chrip technology is the difference that good ?

In the Chrip transom I saw the one you have recommended TM275LHW and the TM265LH and was not able to detriment which one is good for me as the wide high frequency is only 500’ depth and most of our jigging from 230’to 590’.
I just want the best match for my fishing if you where in my place what would you do ?

Sam

sam_ghaz,

You can certainly use the Airmar TM265LH. It's high frequency chirps at 130-210 kHz and its pretty much ideal for around coastal waters up to 1000 ft. (300 meters), and the 42-65 kHz side will allow deep fishing up to 3000 ft. (900 meters).

Thank you

Do I need anything else besides FCV295 and TM265LH?

sam_ghaz,

No, you should only need both of those items. You will have a pretty good set-up for the fishing that you currently want to be engaged in.

hi i can offer some experience on the fcv 295 tm265lh
thought I was buying a 1kw and finding fish would do ok
id suggest if you can stretch budget to a 2kw and get a bracket fabricated to fit the transom
it will read bottom to 800m bobbing up and down on a good day, seeing fish was nil.
500m doing 5 knots will read bottom. seeing fish nil.
I actually struggle to find fish at any depth, found 2 arches in 30m and thought that I would do ok out deep but haven't found anything. I catch fish where I am sounding.
ive tried 1000 settings as that is what you will have to deal with when trying to set it up
ive asked plenty of questions on what settings are best as the manual is very basic on trying to set it up.
finding and holding bottom doing 28knots is no worry
