I have an fcv295 paired with an Airmar CM 599 LH. It’s 6 months old. I’m on the water a couple times a month on average. It started displaying a double echo and twice the actual depth as seen in 2nd pic. Garmin unit shows actual. Then yesterday it has stopped working entirely, 1st pic. What’s going on? Adjusting gain has no effect. Sorry I can’t get pics to display correctly.

Finmanfish,
Most sounders will display multiple echoes if you set the range deep enough, in fact it is a few good way to tell what type of bottom you are over. The more echoes you see the harder the seabed. I am more concerned with the no echo screen shot however. Try going in to the system menu and restore the default setting to see if that helps. If restoring the default settings doesn't help, do you have a Furuno dealer close by you can take it to?

Finmanfish,
In the 1st pic you appear to have shift set to 30ft when according to the Garmin you are in less than 10ft of water. So you are telling the unit to display only the water column from 30ft to 60ft which of course is well beyond below the actual water depth.

Wow didn’t realize that flaming hedgehog. I must have accidentally hit shift. I don’t normally use that at all. Crap that would mean I pulled unit for no good reason.

It's an easy mistake to make. Have done it myself on our 588 and was left wondering why there was no bottom echo.
I am thinking also that in the other image the 295 may be overlooking the 1st bottom return due to it being obscured by all the surface clutter. I am not familiar with the 295's options but am guessing that by either reducing the gain or setting the clutter filter (or maybe TVG) higher that the problem might be resolved.
