Hi can someone give me some advice on the earth wire for the case of the fcv 295 unit.
Do I lug it to the aluminum hull ? Electrolysis ?
And fibreglass or aluminum boat does it go to the negative of the battery?
Install instructions say keep it as short as possible
Thanks Adam

The Earth wire ground should be connected to the boats bonded system that is in direct contact with the water. (like a hull plate with zinc) It should not connect to your battery negative. The power cable provides the battery negative already.

Grounding on a boat is important because of problems with galvanic corrosion and shock hazards.

Normally on most boats with 12V and 24V DC systems, the engine block or block of the outboard is the ground. But when there is no engine then a ground buss usually becomes the ground and all negative conductors are connected to a grounding buss.

Deep Blue - :)

Cheers. I was a little unsure as ill have it mounted on the plastic bracket so will be some what insulated from the aluminum hull. But I guess on other boats it would be grounded when it is flush mounted in the dash
