Snips, went with a 588/tm260 on my skiff and definitely made the right choice. Primary setup is Bottom Lock on Low Freq. Is the unit capable of shifting the Bottom Lock to get a good look at tails much like the pic I attached?

The Zoom Mode you are looking for is called Bottom Discrimination 1/2 or 1/3. Ginodan is correct that the FCV-588 doesn't offer that Mode, only Bottom Lock, Bottom Zoom and Marker Zoom.
