Machine and transducer for bottom hardness

GWB

Furuno Fan
Looking for advice on which machine and transducer combo will show bottom hardness in 100 fathoms and less. Also want the ability to go deeper... if that means dual frequency then which transducer ....thanks for your help

GWB,
Currently how do you judge the bottom hardness? Do you look at the tail of the primary return or the strength of the secondary returns? What is the size and type of vessel?

GWB,
I think that the FCV-295 or 1150 using a CA50BL-12HR would give you what you are looking for. Below are a couple of screen shots of a FCV-1200 using the CA50BL-12HR.

Hope this helps.

Snips, if using the 82B 35R transducer with the FCV1150 OR FCV295, will I still get the same sort of bottom hardness response?

GWB,
Hard to say, it is not a highly used transducer here in the US.

Snips, what is the advantage of using the fcv1150 over the fcv295 with the CA50BL-12HR?
Thanks

GWB,
Both the 295 and 1150 have the same T/R units so the basic performance will be similar. The 1150 has a higher resolution and brighter display, can be heave stabilized when connected to a Furuno sat compass and has a network port so is can be connected into a Navnet or Nobletec system. Also the 1150 has ACCU-FISH when using a CA50/200-1T or 12M transducer.
