GP7000F Help with unidentified opening on unit

Postby vos111 » Mon Aug 21, 2017 7:58 am

I bought a used GP7000F chartplotter/sonar. There is a round opening on the bottom side of the unit that I cannot figure out. It has residual adhesive around it like maybe it was previously plugged and I am thinking it was for factory service. I would really like to know if I should close this opening or if it is necessary for moisture to escape. Here is link to picture. Thanks for any help.

Yes someone has removed an important part of the unit. There should be a breather valve there to allow the unit to breath without the unit getting condensation. Since it isn't a wear item expected to need replacement, it will be difficult to get ordered. Working with your local dealer I am sure they can order it from Japan or offer a used one from an old unit.
