Furuno 1650w questions

Hey guys I'm new here but I have a few question with the gp1650w gps my question is can I run a fuel flow sensor through this gps via nmea? And what is the nmea used for?

The GP1650W will not show fuel flow. The NMEA is primarily used to interface to an autopilot or to send position, heading, and speed to another device. This may be needed for your fuel flow device though. Here is a link to the manual which should be helpful:
