Navnet VX2 Sounder Module Question.

Fever Reliever

Gonna have to replace my transducer this winter during haul out and trying to figure out what sounder module I have and what do I need to upgrade. I have a pair of VX2's and just haven't located the sounder module yet in the boat or been able to identify what model transducer I have. So I have two questions.

Is there a way to find all this information out by going through some of the menus on the MFD's?

Also I would like to upgrade to at least a 2kw or possibly a 3kw transducer. What would I need to do that or is it even possible with these units?

Thanks in advance for yalls help!!

Unfortunately there is no easy way. You will have to find that module eventually.

Either follow the lead from the transducer cable or from the Ethernet hub.

Yes, if you have a sounder like the BBFF3 (ETR30N) or the DFF3; you can run up to 3KW.

Ok I located the sounder module and its the ETR-6/10N appears to be a 1kw sounder module. Still unsure of what transducer I have but still looking for advice on what changes to make to upgrade my fish finder without getting all new electronics. Would like to get at least 2kw. Chirp is not necessary if thats even possible with these older machines.
Thanks

The sounder you have is what we call the BBFF1 (600w and 1Kw switchable).
If you want to run higher than 1kw you would be looking for the BBFF3 or the DDFF3 sounder, if you plan to continue using the VX2 with it. Both these units are 1,2,3KW switchable.

Also what transducer would you pair it with? I want to go at least 2kw but would like 3kw if its within my budget. Found some good deals on bbff3 on eBay. I can do either thru hull with fairing block or shoot through transducer.
Thanks

It depends on your upgrade plans. The BBFF3 is a great sounder but is missing all the digital processing. It can only be used with the NN1, Vx2, and NN3D. You can not use it with the newer systems like the TZT and TZT2. The DFF3 would work on all of these systems allowing you the flexibility to keep the unit as you upgrade into some of Furuno's new products.
