Hi!
We recently had a burglar on board our boat. He stole a MFD12 (slave) plotter, which was mounted outside. It was connected to a MFD8 (master) below deck. They shared System ID and maps.

Now, we're thinking of buying a used MFD8 on eBay to replace the stolen MFD12.

Will the "new" MFD8 be able to connect to the old MFD8 and share the old System ID, maps and information which we have already purchased for our setup?

Kjeks,

Sorry to hear about your stolen unit.
However, all system ID sharing is done through the master unit. So, since you still have your master unit then you still should have all your charts and unlocked charts as well.
Also make sure/update the software on the new MFD8 to match the software version of your master MFD8 and then everything should talk and interface properly.

So as long as the two MFD8's are using the same version software, then you should be able to see use to unlocked charts on both units, once correctly interfaced in the same network.

Thank you for the reply!

Good to hear the new system will work as long as the old master unit is still on board. Then I'll go ahead and buy a used MFD8 :sail
