gp330b not getting fix

My "new" boat is now almost ready to sail (thanks for all the answers!)
I still have one question. Now that the NavNet 3D is up and running I realised that there is something wrong with the gp330b. It takes sometimes a really long time to get a fix (sometimes no fix at all) and even then the signal strenght bars are never over 50. At the same time my AIS has fix in seconds and many of the satellites give 100% signal. It also sees many more satellites than the gp330b.

Is there anything to do?

I removed the gp330b and opened it. The reason seems to be water inside the antenna. It is very difficult to understand how it has ever gotten in there.

I have seen several installs where they used the surface mount cup but blocked the vent holes with sealant leading to condensation.

Yes, it was condensation for sure considering the mounting location. The vent holes were clean and open and the installation was very well made. Looks like I need to have another NMEA2k gps.
