Software Update v 7

Any more word on timing for posting new software update for download? Heard today that my new DRS25A-NXT radar and SCX-20 have been shipped and the TZT 3s are not far behind.

I will also have a TZTL 12F on my network, however, and I gather it won't be compatible without the new software (maybe that is not correct but normally I know all units should run same version).

If you mix a TZT2 with the TZT3, the TZT2 MUST be upgraded with new v7 software prior.

TZT3 can NEVER be mixed with TZT Series one. If running a TZT series one is mixed with TZT2, the TZT2 MUST remain at v6.

We expect that v7 software will becoming available shortly after TZT3 units start shipping to customers. The supplies are building and things are looking really good for the TZT3 release. :jump

Johnny, I was so bummed when I read this because as far as I knew, there was no small format option for the TZT3 and I'd be stuck forever with V6 software and no upgrade path. Was I glad to find out today at Fred Hall that Furuno is going to release a 9" TZT3 at some point in the future.

I only have room for a 9" MFD in my dash, hence going with the TZT9, which replaced my MFD8. Knowing that Furuno is going to provide a TZT3 replacement option is fantastic. Even though it's not planned for release anytime soon it's a relief to know I'm not going to be stuck with a difficult TZT9 replacement situation in the future.

TZT 3s are shipping now and available but I don't see the v. 7 software needed to have a TZT 2 on the same network on the support website or for that matter the full operator manual for TZT 3.

Are they coming soon or maybe casualties of the virus?

Found with a bit more checking -- the TZT 3 full manual is on the Furuno global site support page (furuno.com). Just not on US site yet. Software update not there, however.

Thanks for finding the Manual. We had just asked Japan about that yesterday. Now that they have released it, we will get it posted to the USA website. V7 software is still coming although it might be delayed by the virus. Originally it was said to lag TZT3 shipping by about two weeks. We started shipping TZT3 last Thursday. That would mean v7 around 9 April had the virus not been introduced into the mix. I think we will still have it by mid April.

Overnight we got an news about v7 software.

It is still coming but has been delayed by the virus effects. Right now they are looking at the very end of May for official release, if no more delays happen.

V6.26 is great software so the delay isn't a huge issue for TZT2 users. It will be a free upgrade to existing users once offered.

For those TZT3 customers in the USA; if you are planning to mix your older TZT2, we will be setting up a beta program for those interested via tech support. You must provide a Furuno USA TZT3 serial number to be eligible. Those who can wait; you are encouraged to wait for final v7 software before mixing.

That's a good interim solution. Where do we send the request for the beta program? My TZT 3 units will be installed in a couple of days and I have a TZT 2 on the system.

Will TZT2 users have to update to 6.26 before going to v7 or can we go straight from 6.21? Looking forward to v7 after talking to you guys and using the TZT3 at the Miami show!

Now that we're headed into July 2020 has there been anything new on when there will be a software update (I assume 7.0) for TZT2 systems?

We are pressing to find out if v7 is still on planned release schedule. It is said to bring many UI changes making it more like TZT3. It will also bring abilities to draw boundaries and lots of nice goodies. Upgrading to v7 will break compatibility with TZT series one but will allow better integration with TZ Pro v4.

They are testing the final update procedure with factory units and they should be proceeding to release the software to distributors. Hopefully we can have it up on our website this week. I am getting excited for it.

If you are happy with the beta, I don't see why you couldn't stay with it. The beta might have some extra debug software installed so it is possible the final release might run a bit faster.
The difference will most likely will not be noticeable.

Sorry folks with tomorrow being an observed holiday, v7 isn't coming this week. They are now expecting release on Wednesday or Thursday.
