Nobody makes one anymore except Lowrance and it has bad reviews online. The Furuno T-2000 is pretty expensive for people like me, who only make it out to sea occasionally due to life's other responsibilities, and it's too big. I want something that fits in a dash board and is in the $150 to $200 range.

If you want a truly self-contained system with its own display at low cost, your options will be very limited. A company called CruzPro makes a simple display for about $125 and a nicer higher precision one for about twice that (CruzPro WTP110). They are not common in US but the company has been around for a while and has a decent reputation.

You can also get an Airmar T42 "smart sensor" temperature device that can be connected to any display you have that can show NMEA0183 data. I have one and it works very well.

thanks. I see that Sitex makes one that's about $225 or so. I guess I could go that route as well. Appreciate the reply.
