Just saw this review of the RD33 on the Panbo.com web site.

Ben Ellison quickly describes some of the features of the RD33 and it looks like there is more to come. If you are looking for additional information on the RD33, check out our Guided Tour Video on the RD33 that can be viewed here:

This little instrument is extremely useful for gathering both NMEA0183 and NMEA2000 data and displaying them in a variety of ways. If you are looking for a large depth or temp read-out, this may be the exact product you need! :cool

I'll give a vote in favor of this great little display. Rewiring out 35y old sailboat I have converted her to NMEA2000 (PB200 weather station and DST transducer). This display has been great and currently serves as our only cockpit repeater. Well done.

Now having said that I see, on Panbo, that the competition has been ramped up with both B&G (http://www.panbo.com/archives/2011/09/b ... .html#more) and Raymarine (http://www.panbo.com/archives/2011/09/r ... .html#more) have entered the 'all-in-one' display space. As a sailer I am particularly impressed with the very simple way in which they have added greatly to usefulness of the wind data display via addition of max/av/min AWA markers (Raymarine) and combined AWA/TWD display (B&G). I hope Furuno won't let the ball drop on this great product and will continue to innovate and refine the data screen options.

Hi rjp -

Welcome to the Furuno Forum and thank you for your input! I'm glad to hear that you are happy with the RD33 and is serving you well on your sailboat. I wanted to let you know that I have forwarded your comments/requests on to our product development team. We appreciate you letting us know how you use the display and other features that would be useful. This is exactly the kind of input that will allow us to continue to improve upon this great product. Thanks again for your time and I look forward to your future posts and participation on our forum! :D

Dotdun,
I know that product develoment had talked about it. I wouldn't expect to see the software changed to show AIS, until Furuno offers a NMEA 2000 AIS unit or other systems like the NN3D support it. The RD33 is really new and I am sure we will see many enhancements to it as we move forward. No promises but I will let product development know that customers are asking about this feature.

I have searched the documentation to understand if it is possible to easily exchange waypoints and route between:

Maxsea and the Navnet3D and the RD33

(Maxsea can exchange with the Navnet) I would like to publish to the RD33 as a backup.

Andre

The "GP33" can only bring in waypoints and routes via a serial PC connection. (38,400 baud)
Other than this one function, the GP33 is an OUTPUT (NMEA 2000/NMEA 0183) device.
