Temperature not sent from FCV-587 to Garmin 942 GPSMAP

The Garmin 942 GPSMAP sends all kinds of navigation data to the Furuno FCV-587 with no problem.

I have the two devices via NMEA 0183 port "A" of the Furuno FCV-587

But the depth and temperature are not received on the Garmin 942 GPSMAP.

I have the NMEA Output to "ON"

I used the Port Monitor page and did not see output sentences for temperature (MTW) on port number 1. Port number 2 shows nothing.

Too Thirsty,
There are different types of NMEA outputs/input formats, RS-232 and RS-422. Garmin uses RS-232 and Furuno RS-422, RS-232 uses a common ground wire between the output/input data ports and where the output/input ports on RS-422 are isolated. So currently you probably have the Blue and Green wires (587) connected to the Black on the 942. Doing this ties the 587's ports together which causes issues. The proper way to connect the two machines is by using a RS-232 to RS-422 converter. This will separate the ports allowing bi-directional data to flow.

Can you recommend a RS-232 to RS-422 converter that would be the simple solution?

Too Thirsty,
We normally rely on local electronic shops for these. However you buy them online, Google CON-422-PE9.
