We took delivery of our outboard powered 28' pilothouse boat in April. We have slowly built out the TZ Touch system.

Currently installed:
TZ Touch 9"
DFF1
Furuno Hub
DRS4D
Airmar GH2183 Gyro compass/GPS/heading sensor
Airmar TM260 transducer
2 VHF AIS receive capable radios on the NMEA2000 netowrk
Yamaha Outboards on the NMEA2000 network

My only regret is not going with the 14" TZ Touch. Harder to have situationaly awareness having to look at smaller screen while piloting through low visibility.

I have a few options, each have +/- and costs associated:

Run a VGA widescreen monitor off the TZT9", Mounted on a swing arm that can put the monitor into a visible position while running in tougher situations

Wait for a larger iPad to come out and mount as above

Purchase a large screen Android Tablet (12" looks like the largest these days) and mount as above

Trade up to a TZT14"

Purchase Timezero software and run on my existing Panasonic Toughbook.

Any thoughts on reliability, costs and practicality?

Just as a note there are some caveats in using the video outputs on your TZT9:
- the output resolution is the same as the TZT9 eg, 800X480 so suggest you try that resolution on any monitor before you commit to make sure you are happy
- the output will be the same on the 2 screens, you cannot see something different just larger
