Problem Setting Up NavPilot 300

I am having problems setting up an NP300 using my existing Raymarine pump. The Dockside Setup menu with phantom feedback calls for an air bleeding protocol following the drive unit selection step. My system has already been bled using the Raymarine directions. If I try to skip over the air bleed steps and start the rudder test the system does not respond. The pump does not turn on. Is it necessary to go through the hydraulic bleed process again in order for the rest of the initialization steps to work? Or do I have a problem with the pump?

I contacted Furuno Support when they opened today and got my answer:

You need to go through ALL of the initialization steps, including the bleeding, in order for the software to proceed with the setup process. They said that you don't have to actually bleed the system, but you must "humor the software". :think
