PG700 vs SCX20

I'm looking at replacing my current mixed Garmin/Simrad setup with all-Furuno. Part of this is a 711C pilot. Also plan to include an SCX20.

Does the AP still need the PG700 installed or can it get the appropriate (better, actually) data it needs from the SCX20?

If the PG700 is unneeded in this case can the 711C be purchased without the PG700?

Yes the Furuno NavPilots can run with the SCX20 for heading, so you're right that if you have the one you don't technically need the other PG700. The product can be purchased separately as well, just tell you dealer you're interested in the NAVPILOT 711C only package.
